“Last Friday, the check engine light on my vehicle came on & I began experiencing "engine performance problems". The problem was, I was 60 miles north of Duluth when it happened. No cell phone reception! I managed to get my vehicle into the town of Two Harbors, where I pulled into the first service station I could find. They couldn't look at it for 3 hours. I was in despair. I had to be at work the next day. I called the dealer in Duluth. They gave me several options, but it basically boiled down to we won't be able to look at it until Monday or Tuesday next week.
So I called Tim Sandlin at Steve's Tire & Auto, 190 miles away in Minneapolis, & let him know of my predicament. He sprang into action on my behalf & made some calls. He told me to go to Danny's Auto Shop, ask for Eric, AND gave me directions to the shop. He told me to call him if I had any questions or problems while I was there (by the way, Danny's Auto Shop in Two Harbors also gave me excellent service).
Both Eric from Two Harbors & Tim from Minneapolis made phone calls to suppliers all over northern MN to try & find the needed part, but it wasn't going to be available until Monday. Tim spoke with Eric about what my vehicle needed & let me know that they were being fair with me. I can't even say how much I appreciated this! I should mention at this time that Tim brought this up as a maintenance issue back in October & I decided to defer it at that time. My VERY bad.
Travis, one of the auto technicians from Danny's, gave me a ride to Duluth that night where my husband picked me up. That saved us about 45 minutes of driving...again, very appreciated.
Today my vehicle is still in Two Harbors, repaired, road tested, & ready to go. My wonderful co worker & friend Beth is going to drive it back to Minneapolis for me.
I'd give Tim Sandlin, & Steve's Tire & Auto 10 stars if I could. Same with Eric Falk & Danny's Auto Shop (625 3rd Av. Two Harbors, 218-834-4524). Too bad I can't send them some Lake Harriet pizzas-they're going to have to settle for Pizza Hut. The kindness & customer service I received made this situation as pleasant as it could be.”
